I’ve made it to the final of the Scottish Comedian of the Year competition after getting through the semi final on Saturday night! The Grand Final hosted by Des Clarke is this coming Sunday, the 27th of September, at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow’s Merchant City.

The competition is high with a plethora of talent reaching this stage, the line up includes Chris Forbes, Gordon Brunton, Gus Tawse, Keir McAllister, Ray Bradshaw, Ro Campbell, Saj Chaudhray and Teddy. All of which are talented acts in their own right and any of them could walk away with the prize on the night.

The judging panel will include Tam Cowan (BBC Scotland Off the Ball), Kate Copstick (The Scotsman), Lee Martin (Frog and Bucket), Brett Vincent (Underbelly), Paul Sneddon (aka Vladamir McTavish, Bob Doolally, Steve Bennett (of Chortle website) and a special guest judge.

So if you know any of the judges/acts or have any dirt on them that I could use in my favour, let me know.

Hey there people,

I hope this fine Sunday afternoon finds you resting on the couch with your chosen brain dead movie surrounded by a plethora of snacks and treats to help you end the weekend.

In anticipation of your plans for next weekend, I thought I’d let you know that I’ve made it through to the semi-final of the “Scottish Comedian of The Year” competition. Which i’ll be performing in on the 19th of September at Uisge Beatha on Woodlands Road, Glasgow. So it’s time to cancel your plans for next Saturday and book your tickets. (i’m pushy, but it’s ok cause i have dimples)

For me to make it through to the final, i need to rely on audience votes, so could use all the support I can get as there are some great acts and tough competition in the semi-final. Ok, so saying I’d write a blog every day, might have been an exaggeration, how was I to know that I’d end up getting distracted with such things as booze, girls and bed linen? In an attempt to get my thoughts in writing, I’m currently sitting on the stagecoach between Glasgow and Edinburgh as I’m gigging at Jongleurs Edinburgh again tonight.

How I love public transport! 35 people locked in a windowed box, exchanging silent bodily gasses with each other. 4 people currently sharing their side of a phone conversations, “ahm pure lookin forward tae gettin’ melted the night, is that burd cumin wae ye? Is she bringin ah pal?” – I doubt it my unarticulated little friend!

“Woke up, got out of bed, had a shit, went back to bed.”

Somehow, I don’t think the Beatles track would have been quite so successful if they’d written about my morning regime. But maybe it’s time for a change, time to get things done, time to get my act in gear and stop procrastinating (that’s a posh word for wanking instead of working).

After all, it’s been months since I’ve written on here. Is that because:
a) I’ve been in hiding since being threatened about making jokes about the area in Glasgow I live in?
b) I’m a lazy bastard?
c) I have a smart and sexy girlfriend and it’s hard to write jokes when I’m happy?
d) My computer keeps crashing on me because it has more viruses than an 18-30’s rep?

I’ve had an amazing weekend at the Stand in Glasgow, performing with MC Susan Calman, and acts Marlon Davis, John Gillick and Jason Rouse. This line up was the comedy version of Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates; you just didn’t know what was going to happen. Everyone did a great job, after a slow Thursday we had two almost sold out nights Friday and Saturday.

It would be this weekend that it would become official, I have finally moved in to using material that offends people to the point I’m being threatened! Whilst that seems very rock and roll, I’m positive I’m being threatened for the wrong piece of material and I’m not quite sure my pants are designed for the paranoia it’s brought with it. Should anything happen to me, let me leave you with my statement of what happened…
